ACTS Professor Series and President’s Note

May 14, 2020 By Secretariat

Dear Members,

In the past 2 years, we have connected and collaborated with the different universities in Singapore in career talks, seminars, and our ACTS Business Case Competition. This time, we reach out to our Professors from the different schools, and invited them to join us in this meaningful project of curating a series of articles for the modern CFOs, Treasurers and Finance Professionals.

In this series of articles, we will be featuring different Professors from the different Singaporean universities with different specializations and their views on different areas and topics. Our single common aim is to share the expertise, experience, and knowledge in the different areas with the Finance & Treasury community whose roles and responsibilities have evolved and expanded beyond the traditional finance realms.

We are grateful to the outburst of generosity from the various universities:

♦ Professor Lim Y.K, Adjunct Associate Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, NTU. A trained engineer who interestingly is writing about the story of fake news.

♦ Dr. Yougesh Khatri, Associate Professor (Practice), College of Business (Nanyang Business School), Division of Banking, NTU. A passionate finance scholar who will be sharing with us a fresh view of the current crisis.

♦ Ms. Jessica Tan, Lecturer, Wee Kim Wee School of Communications and Information, NTU. We are thankful for her sharing of the insights on the evolving landscapes in the news media industry.

♦ Dr. Chen Kan, Deputy Director, Risk Management Institute, NUS. Dr. Chen with vast experiences as both an academic and a trader in top banks and institutions will share his experiences and advice on the markets and risk management.

♦ Professor David Lee, Professor of Finance Programme, SUSS. Prof. David a leading proponent on Blockchain and the Digital Economy will be sharing his views and insights on this very trendy topic.

♦ Dr. Jaclyn Lee, Chief Human Resources Officer, SUTD. A highly regarded HR professional and author of several books, she will be shedding some light on the future of work and talent management.

♦ Dr. Nila Raghunath, Assistant Professor (Sociology of Innovation and Work) Humanities Arts and Social Sciences, SUTD. Dr. Nila will be sharing on her passion on Technology, Sociology and Millenial Talents

♦ Professor Annie Koh, VP Business Development, V3 Group Professor of Family Entrepreneurship, Professor of Finance (Practice), Academic Director of Business Family Institute & International Trade Institute and Dr. Khoo Guan Seng, Adjunct Lecturer International Trade Institute, SMU. Both very accomplished and seasoned professors will be giving some advice on portfolio rebalancing for corporates.

With this series of articles, we hope you will have important takeaways that will help you better your decision making at work and at home.United we stand. Stay healthy, stay safe, and stay strong. See you soon at our events!”
